Skip cannot work while fighting his battle with cancer.  While his prognosis is good, his cancer and subsequent reconstructive surgeries will take a great deal of time.  Medicaid will cover most of the major medical bills, but they will not cover related expenses.  In order to qualify for Medicaid, Skip cannot work (the radiation and chemotherapy as well as regular recovery from multiple surgeries make it impossible to work anyway).

Skip needs enough money to float the gap between now and when he is well enough to work again.  Just enough to keep food in his pantry, pay his utilities, support his 13 year old son, and keep from losing his house.  Skip estimates his monthly shortfall as $1000 and that he will be returning to work in eighteen to twenty-four months, so he's looking at about $20,000 in expenses he can't meet.  Any amount of money contributed to help bridge this gap will be greatly appreciated.
